Our world
WT-Metall is not a giant corporation – it's the Winterling family. We are a family business in the third generation with committed employees. Craftsmanship, proximity to the customer and the well-being of the dogs are our top priorities.
All our dog trailers, car crates and sports equipment are handcrafted with a lot of love in Bamberg. In 4 large production halls, your orders become finished products. For some of our sports equipment, we have selected partners from the EU.
Our team in customer service, production employees and us as a family are all dog lovers. As office dogs, we have a Rottweiler, a Tibetan Terrier, a French Bulldog and 2 German Shepherd dogs. The Border Collie is the boss here and demands his daily strokes. This allows us to understand the needs of your dogs and your own wishes, as we also use all our products ourselves.

We are specialists in transporting dogs and dog sports equipment. Whether you use a Thermo dog trailer or a WT dog crate, the human-dog team always comes first at WT-Metall. That's why we've expanded our range in recent years to include products like the bicycle trailer and whelping box. Dog sports constantly bring new requirements too – we've been manufacturing complete agility courses for competitions, plus individual training equipment, for over 15 years. We're always at the cutting edge with our gear for protection dog sports, flyball, and obedience.
WT-Metall began as a small craftsman's workshop founded in 1975 by Dipl.-Ing. Herbert Winterling. Since German Shepherds were always part of daily life in the Winterling household, protection dog sports naturally followed. The need for dog transport trailers emerged from our own trailer manufacturing. Both customer requests and personal experience showed that regular dog transport takes a toll on cars. The current "Thermo" dog trailer design was developed in 1982/83 and has been continuously perfected in technology and appearance ever since.
In 1993, Bernd Winterling began producing custom car crates and dog treadmills at SGW. By 1995, SGW was making the first agility hurdles and protection sports hiding places. In 1999, Bernd Winterling took over management from Herbert Winterling, integrating SGW's products. "Continue what works and develop new solutions for today's needs" is Mr. Winterling's motto. This engineering master and business economist has trained dogs since childhood and is passionate about dog sports.
To stay connected with customers and the dog sports community, Bernd Winterling and his team attend numerous events at home and abroad, covering thousands of kilometers from January to November. At WT-Metall, it's not just about sales – it's about maintaining constant dialogue with our customers.
